About Me

Amritha Venkatraman: About Me: By training, I am a counter-terrorism analyst specializing in conflicts with Islamic violence. I have a PhD in Global Affairs from Rutgers University, USA, 2005. I have researched, conducted field study and worked in the realm of peacefully managing disputes with Islamic violence, for over eleven years. I have also published a book and eleven academic papers on this subject. I now spend my time in the pursuit of art for peace and joy. The shift towards painting was inspired by an inner quest for healing and being my higher self, which remains on-going. I have never formally studied painting or held a paint brush between 1981 and 2009. The art comes to me. The colors and technique that emerges in my work are a manifestation of the movement and happiness in me and the Universe.
